Alright so I'm fixing up my 2nd discovery 1 - glutton for punishment I know! - and am looking for some insight from the forums before I do some surgery on it or rake it to a more qualified mechanic. This one is in much better cosmetic shape then my first and has 50k miles less on it at 130k.

Problem: Vehicle will only move at very high RPMs, parking brake light is on the dash (even though parking brake is disengaged).

Other then that no codes are being thrown. First thought is to drop the transmission filter and see what kind of sediment I'm dealing with. Followed by replacing the seals, and fluid and going from there.

What say the forum?

 

Does the transmission have fluid in it? Is is brown? A drain and proper re-fill to the correct level (while cold and in park) is a good place to start.
