Hope someone can help me with this. Taking my Disco to the dealership is getting too expensive... gotta start learning how to fix problems myself.
My Disco has started doing the following...
1. Starts then sputters then stops.
2. Starts then runs for a while then stops.
3. Starts then runs for about a week then starts the whole sputtering and stop thing again.
I'm a computer guy but haven't gotten into troubleshooting cars much. Any idea where I can find a manual without breaking the bank? What sort of tools do I need to work on my Disco?
Thanks!

77K on the Disco. It has been tuned by the LR dealership a few times. Last time was at around 70K. That's when they replaced the power steering pump. To my knowledge the fuel filter, plugs and wires have not been changed. Spark plugs and wires seem like they would be fairly easy to replace... but the fuel filter? Is that difficult?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Not that the plug wires will correct this problem, but ar 77K, they are warn out and not helping your trucks performance.
The fuel fiter, which on D1's is known to cause some of what you are experiencing, is located in the right rear wheel well on the frame. Rasy to replace as long as you spray a little penetrating oil on the 2 fittings the day before you replace it. It is a common filter that can be found at most auto part stores.
I would also suggest you buy e cans of SeaFoam to help clean out your engine really well.
If you have any questions, we can talk this weekend.
