98 Discovery Radio Help!
So I have a 98 discovery 1 that had a aftermarket head unit installed.
Now I wanted to wire up a sub and amp I had lying around because the stock one is destroyed. So I went about the business of removing the head unit and immediately became very confused.
The way its set up is they have an adapter that gets the power and signal wires from the stock wiring to the head unit, however none of the speaker wires are connected.
Instead they have the front and rear RCA wires from the head unit spliced into what I believe was the CD Changer speaker wires from the stock wiring.
Now I am confused by the whole setup in this anyways, I can only assume since those are non-ampflied connections they must go to an amplifier somewhere? But where? I know there is amp for the stock sub, but I didn't think that rest of the speakers had a separate amp as well.
Well I figured I would try and wire up the regular speaker wiring, and I did that and removed the RCA connections. Tested it ... no sound, connect back the RCA wiring and there is sound.
So I am overall just really confused, I want to use the rear RCA jacks for the sub, but the way its set up if I remove them I have no sound, and for some reason the speaker wiring that was originally wired into the head unit doesn't appear to be working.
Does anyone have any idea on how I could get his set up correctly?
Picture of the disconnected speaker wires

Picture of wiring harness connector where the stock LR connectors go into, also shows the RCA outputs that go these boxes that then connect to the CD Changer speaker wiring.

2 notes: Dowload the RAVE set of tech manuals and use the electrical troubleshooting guide for photos and diagrams and locations of connectors, etc. An be careful which antenna wire you select - my D1 has two antennas in the glass, on the rear side fixed glass. There is some sort of preamp above them in the headliner trim. One antenna is FM only, the other is supposed to be AM or FM. In normal "PITA" practice, my PO selected the FM only when he installed the Sony CD/radio, and did not leave me the removal tools.
