Okay here's what's going on. I shifted into park when I pulled into the driveway and it was very difficult to push the selector forward. So I tried to move it back and it was locked. I lifted the cover and manually released the parking lock. The selector moves freely now. However it gets stuck in park anytime I return the selector to that position.

It will not start unless in neutral
I don't have any blown fuses under the driver side panel
I do not hear the brake switch activating the parking lock
My brake lights work on the rear of the vehicle

So basically what I'm gathering is my rover doesn't know it's in park? Did my xyz switch fail?
