Hello All:

I have a new "used" 99 Disco SD...very nice vehicle...owned less than a week now.

One item is my rear door won't open now yet it opened Friday. I tried both the inner & outer latch. Any ideas?

Second item is the interior light won't come on when driver's door is open. Comes on when all other doors are open. Any ideas?

Last but not least, the factory tape deck has an anti-theft light. What is this light wired into that is different from alarm light on the dash that the owner's manual talks about? I have the manual but it looks as if the radio may have had it's own manual which is not with the car.

The car is gorgeous & I want to make it 100% perfect by fixing these few small issues.

i can help you on the radio issue...
the anti theft light tells thieves the once the power is disconnected from the radio, they will need a code to get it to work again. If your battery goes dead then you also will need the code to put in it to get it to work again.

 

You will need to pop off your land rover badge on the rear door and shoot some lube in there, and work the handle back and forth. Try that and if that does nothing you may need a latch.

As far as your interior light issue, sounds like your door latch has some faulty elecrtrical components. The latch cannot be repaired i would just deal with the problem or replace the latch.
