ABS/Brake/TC Lights-Grrr!
Just got my first Range Rover, it is a 1997 4.6 HSE. When I got it the ABS/Brake/TC light on the dash were stuck on, and only was getting front braking. I pulled and checked all the fuses and relays. Now, when it is running the ABS, and Brake light immediately come on, then the brake light goes out. After a few seconds the Brake light comes back on, with an error message of "low brake fluid", and I get an "ABS fault" error message in my dispaly panel. The brake fluid is not low. But, still only getting the front brakes, no rear brakes, I can tell this by the rust on the back rotors, and the extremely hard braking. Any clues? I would really like to resolve this issue myself. Am wondering if there is any way to test the ABS pump? Any other things I can check, or look for? I would really appreciate any help.
I agree with taking it to the tech guy. I like to try and figure things out myself, however, am pretty much at the end of what I can do here. One thing I did check, is there is voltage going to the main red/black wiring on the pump. Is there another sensor somewhere that tells the pump to "turn on"? As the pump doesn't seem to be pumping, even with voltage.
Well, after searching threads a little more, I have discovered my ABS pump isn't pumping. It gets power, the wiring, sensors, etc., are good, but, no juice in the pump. I removed the black plastic cover where the wires go in, and did confirm that the pump is getting voltage. So, guess I better find an ABS pump, or figure out how to rebuild mine. I saw a web site that had a breakdown on it, so may look into that. Else, will have to buy a pump,
