Default Occasional Coolant Leak(grrr)....

for the past 2 weeks I'm getting an occasional coolant leak that I haven't been able to track down. when it does leak, it takes about a 1/2 gal to refill, never more (very Poe), and puddles up just to the pass side of center. have not seen any consistency as to when it will leak or not. radiator, t/stat and just about all coolant hoses have been replaced a few months ago, water pump was not, all worm screws have been tightened. every time I go to check for a leak- no leak! thoughts...

if you have already tried a pressure tester, then I would suggest UV die. It could be the water pump weep hole or the timing cover gasket. either way no way to tell without pressure or UV die.

check the bottom of the expansion tank, I think it is the return hose for the throttle heater...

If you recently did cooling system work - and replaced hoses then you need to go thru and tighten the clamps again.

The leaks usually occur when the engine is cooling down in the garage our outside.

Go out there then and you'll see the steady drip.
That's when to trace it.
