Default Grrr... Messed up oil cooler line threads

Murphy's law struck at the end of my job. Guess I am tired. I am trying to get the oil cooler line screwed in that attached to the block directly in front of the oil pan. For whatever reason the threads on the block seem to be messed up. I cannot see and crossed threads but they must be there. I have not forced the nut besides a couple times trying to get it moving again but nothing outrageous. Anyone know the best way to straighten up threads. I know I can try a thread chaser but I don't know the pitch on the bolt. Anyone have any helpful suggestions? Im going and look at it with a clear head tomorrow. Thanks in advance.

I see this thread is from 2008, but here it is 2016 and I have the exact same problem. If you're still around and can remember that far back, please comment on how you fixed this problem.

thread size should be M20x1.5
thread cleaner/chaser should clean them up. then get a thread file to clean up the hose threads.

This might be a good temporary fix:
Try layering up the Teflon tape on the threads until you get the supplies to re-thread the block.
Don't use this as a permanent fix though because I don't think this is that robust.
