Default Is it the actuator?

Hi Guys,

This is my first post and I'm doing so after reading through the various old posts on this subject. I read through them all and I'm still left with my question, so here goes.

I just bought an '03 Disco which I purchased with a non-working driver side front door lock. There is no response when I use the automatic locks. All the other doors work fine (including the rear cargo door), which leads me to think that the actuator is the issue. That said, when I put the key into the tumbler it moves freely - too freely really - it just spun freely as if it wasn't connected to anything.

I pulled the door panel off, and although the actuator does appear to be bad, I don't see any linkage or anything going from the door handle to the actuator. Should there be something there? When I pulled the panel the plastic sheeting was still on, so it seems as though I'm the first person to pull the panel. I don't see any broken linkage rods or anything, but I'm not sure what it's supposed to look like. I'd appreciate any help before buying any parts.

There is a straight pin that goes from the backside of key tumbler to the actuator. You don't see it because it broke off and is sitting at the bottom of your door.
