Mike, the engine was sold to me as only having 70,000 miles, this morning got up and now it will not fire off at all before it always started easy and idle great it just didn't take the trottle without backfiring through the intake.
Update, found it had two burnt valves, I have access to the same year 1997 4.0 engine with 70,000 miles on it ,if I deside to swap the engine out is there anything that I will need to do to the electronic (ecm) or anything else. this engine i know runs great but it is sitting in a wreck Dis. and if I swap it out is land rover differant it is the same year?? please help
If all you are dealing with is valves, go have the heads rebuilt, when back together do a good engine flush on your next oil change and you should be fine. I wouldn't buy another engine.
