1995 D1, manual transmission. I need to replace the brake switch for the second time, and the replacement I got needs a square hole whereas the old switch(s) required a round hole. B-P says all they have are like my new one.

Anyone faced this problem? Solution? I'm going to check NAPA, looking for a miracle as inspection is about to expire.

TIA

I think you want a Standard Motor Products SLS-259. NAPA can cross.
I'm not at home or I'd go look at mine for you.

Thanks Tom, but that part is just like what I got. Fits a square hole, and the hole in my Disco is round.

If it weren't in such an awkward spot, I'd file it to make this switch fit.

Looked under the dash with a flashlight to see how difficult it would be to grind the round hole square, and lo and behold, I saw additional holes in the bracket above the one in which the old switch was mounted.

One was square! The switch I received (and looks like SLS-259 that Tom mentioned) fit right in.

Live and learn.

The round hole is the Cruise Control switch.
