Default Brake Problems

Hello, I have a 99 disco II, stock, 77K mi. After searching the forum I can't find a post with this same scenario that I'm having. The red BRAKE light in the top left corner of the instument panel is coming on at certain times. When i start up in the morning it is not on. Once i drive for about 5 to 10 minutes the BRAKE light comes on. While at a red light I can shut the engine off and restart and the brake like will be off for only about 30 seconds and then it will come back on again. When I start up in the morning and the BRAKE light is off, I can engage the parking brake and the light comes on and then disengage the parking brake and the light goes off. Now, after driving for a while and the light comes on, i can't get it to go off by engaging and then disengaging the parking brake. Brake fluid is right on the Max line and brakes seem to be working fine. Any ideas? I'm trying to find out some basic information so maybe I can attemp a repair if i can find a manual or at least know enough to not get ripped off at a repair shop.

thanks in advance,

willis

Update - I just went to advanced auto and had them hook up to the onboard computer and there were no error codes returned. Not sure if this helps or not.

Mike thanks for the offer, I went for a drive after my last post and the brake like did not come back on and it's been on for three days. I just saw your post so I just went for another drive and still, no brake light. Maybe there is some short some where or some sensor on the fritz. Anyways, my number is 281.658.6588. But now that the warning light is not on, I don't want to take up any of you time for a something that maybe a tempory problem. But as you know, these things usually don't go away for good. So what I'll do is repost if the problem surfaces again. Or, if you think you have some insight to what is happening and you have the time then by all mean give me a call.

Thank you for your time sir,

willis

there is a sensor in the brake fluid resivoir cap, to warn of a low brake fluid level, the sensor may be going bad, check this if you light comes back on.
