Default Bypassing tailgate latch sensor?

Hello everyone, my LR4 believes that the upper trunk is always open and won’t lock as a result. Do y’all know if bypassing the switch will have any adverse side affects besides the car not telling me when the trunk is open? I’m sure the latch replacement isn’t too difficult, but I’d rather save the effort and not have to worry about the next one failing.

Thank you for the input!

Bypassed the sensor with no issues, except occasionally the car gets confused and won’t let me open the lower gate. If I press the upper gate release button again it then allows me to open the lower gate.

Worthwhile for a quick fix as I’m pressed for time!
