camshaft position sensor
hello everyone! i just purchased a 98 discovery the other day and now the check engine light has come on. i took it in to get the codes checked and this is what i came back with.
p1317 : camshaft position
p1158 : o2 sensor, says its running rich
so if the camshaft is slightly out of position would that cause the o2 sensor problem?
if anyone has had a similar problem or knows what i can do to fix the problem please help me out, i would greatly appreciate any advice!

The cam sensor is not the problem.
You need a complete tune up, plugs and wires.
Use good plug wires, Kingsbourne, Magnecore or STI adn any spark plug you want.
Once that is done reset the codes and see what ones come back if any.

thanks for all your info guys! ill pull the o2's and see how they look, im pretty sure it doesnt have any exaust leak and i dont know how to do a vacuum leak test, so if its not the o2s ill just take it in. and i also found it could be the egr is stuck open or high fuel pressure any thoughts on it being either of those?
i appreciate all the advice! im a new land rover owner and just dont know much about them, ill replace the plug wires and reset the codes, i hope thats all it takes. thanks again you guys have been a big help!
You have already "discovered" an important point. Generic code readers can come up with the code number, but consulting the shop manual is your best way to see what that code represents.
