Question CDL/transfer case info

I have a 2000 disco 2 and I have the ability to lock the transfercase (the nut on top of it from under the truck) I removed the front driveshaft to rebuild or get a new one. Now I understand I can lock the transfer case to drive with just the rear driveshaft???right?? vice versa can you lock the rear one to just use the front too??? I have never done this before and would like some knowledge before I monkey with anything! Also how do you lock or engage the cdl so all wheels get same power? Is that the same as locking the transfer case?? If someone could explain this to me it would be much appreciated!!

You can lock the tc so you can drive on one shaft why you rebuild the other. When both shafts are in, you lock the cdl to get traction in off road conditions only. You never lock three cdl with both shafts in and drive on perfectly dry or wet pavement, snow or bad ice on road or any mud or rocky off road conditions.

Yes the cdl is locking your transfer case
