Default 2001 DII with a couple of issues

Hi all after reading a bit and looking at 6-7 different Discos I bought a 2001 Discovery II. It's pretty clean and surprisingly lacking in rust for a southern Ontario truck. Some minor things need TLC but on the whole not to bad. I do have a couple of codes showing P0102 and P1884. The other issue is the HI/LO range selector. It just moved freely and dose not change anything. I am assuming the linkage is disconnected or broken. Other then that it drives nicely and is tight.

Welcome.

P0102 is MAF sensor, output is low and below normal threshold. Could be very dirty air cleaner, could be MAF sensor needs to be cleaned. That should only be doe when truck is stone cold and using made for MAF spray.

P1884 is a code that goes with another for the transmission. You would have to have a more advanced reader for the transmission code.

Shop manual set is called the RAVE, free download in links below.

thanks for the reply and info on the MAF just cleaned it and hope it helps. I read somewhere that the two codes may be related but not sure. Have to get it up on my lift today and have a look at the HI/LO shifter. By the way it has 149 km's on it and I am going to go through a complete service.

What did you pay for you disco? I live in BC and they seem a bit over priced here especially compared to the states. I have an 02 with 118000 km's in min in and out no issues at all I have had it for two months now. I paid 8500$. We should keep in touch its not easy finding aftermarket parts in canada.

cleaning the MAF cleared both codes. I am about to replace the wiper switch and a cracked marker light. Found a local source of used parts at a reasonable price. Now just have to look into the HI/LO shifter. Got mine for under 3K

New MAF install and codes are gone. Now to figure out the issue with HI/LO range shifter.

what the easiest way to get a good look at the linkage? through the console ?
