Default Cranks but won't start

Hello, I am a new member and a first time owner of a Land Rover (97 Discovery 160,000). My problem is intermittent. Twice, I have gone to start her and she cranks over and over but will not start. My assumption was either no fuel or electrical. I looked and pulled the fuses to the fuel pump & inject pump...fine. When I put them back in; she started both times. I'm sure that it can't be the cause but only coincidence. Any input as to where to start looking? While she's starting, it seems like an impossibility to find problem

Possible crank sensor failure, does it usually restart after it cools down for a short while?

No, it actually started both times by pulling the fuel pump fuse and the injector pump fuse under the hood; putting them right back in, and starts right up. This HAS to be a coincidence.

+1 for the crank sensor. Fuel pump fuse removal sure sounds like a coincidence to me. Disco Mikes right on the $ they generally fail hot, once cool will restart. With 160K if it hasnt been replaced, I would get one. Typically they wont set any fault codes as the ECM dosent see the motor running or turning over for that matter.

Thanks. I will try that. Why crank vs cam position sensor?

Crank sensor can stop the ecu from firing the coils and or the fuel pump. Cam sensor can fqail but the engine will still run, just not at it's best.
