Default CV Axleshaft or just CV joint....

That is my question. Front left (passenger side) is clicking at low speeds whilst turning left. Classic bad CV behavior. So looking online i see there is 2 available. Just the joint. Then one with the long axle shaft? Don't know which to buy. (Tried the search feature and could not find anything.)

First what year is your truck, how many miles on it and do you do any hard wheeling, this will deyermine what you need.
Do not buy cheap, lot of those on sale cheap deals are made in China and are pure junk with a short life expectance.
Buy a CV joint like the one below for around $206 at BPoU.

Also easy to pull at boneyard, and dismantlers in your area. I pulled the whole thing quickly. Then got home and found out some lug nuts were not torqued enough.. duh. Still have it as a spare.

AutoZone sells the rebuilt CV joint for a DI for $100, lifetime warranty, thats all you need, just the CV joint since the axle is not broken.

@ Savannah .. boneyards here only have D1's. Will this fit on my D2?

@ Spike ..I saw those and was thinking of getting one because I have an Autozone right in town.

@Everyone Thanks so much for the replies!! Happy Easter!!

Also Rovers North has that exact one for 100 bucks Mike. It just so happens to be I live 10 minutes from there. The price of their boot is RIDICULOUS though.Could I get just the boot somewhere else?

Yes you can buy a new CV boot anywhere, AutoZone sells universal ones, but since your CV is making the clicking sound when you turn the damage is done and it must be replaced.
If you are hard up for cash you can buy the boot, pack the CV with grease from your grease gun and get by for a few months, but the CV is toast and needs to be replaced eventually.
