Default D2 Rear Differential

I just put a used differential in my 2000 Discovery II and now that I have the axles in the driveshaft barely moves I when turn the the hub by hand and vice versa (when i turn the drive shaft). It turns fairly well at first and then quits turning after a few turns. Any thoughts? Thanks!

With me turning it by hand. Now that I have the drive shaft and the other axle in, it turns about a third as fast as the other three wheels. I really don't want to take this apart again.

The splines on the drive shaft really seemed fine, as good as the other side that works. So it must be the differential? Any ideas?

Is it defo the same ratio as the old diff? They do vary according to year and engine type.

Or possibly is the caliper(s) locked on after re-assembling?

I was told the diffs were all the same ratio for the 4.0 from 99-04. Was I misinformed?
