Default D2 Vibration but doesn't feel like wheel balance.

Hi

On the way back to France on the autoroutes I noticed a vibration that wasn't through the steering so I believe it's probably engine/gearbox mounts or prop shaft bearings. As most know, if the front prop shaft breaks up it can cause untold damage and expense. I haven't done an investigation yet as the weather has been rubbish for playing around under vehicles. Whilst researching I came across this article which may well prove invaluable to anyone experiencing the same problems.

Hope this helps someone.

Hi

The worst vibrations seemed to be circa 65-75mph and so I didn't push any higher as I didn't want to chance a broken propshaft also the limit is 130kph in the dry and the gendarmes lurk around every bend with their radar (water) pistols. When I've found out what is occurring I'll do another write up and post it on here.

The vibration seems to be the rear propshaft donut needing replacement. I've received all the parts to refurbish the front and rear propshafts with heavy duty GKN UJ's front and rear, the front cardan bearing and GKN rear rubber donut. Just need the time to do the job now which will take most of the day to do them all properly.
