Default Defender Rear Axle bearing loose

Hi,
My defender recently failed it's roadworthiness test. The Tester said the rear axle bearing was loose, and that I could fit a washer to the axle that would fix this.
I'm going to try this but before I jack the jeep up and take it apart I'd like to have an idea of what parts I need and if I'm doing the right thing.
so
Does anyone know if this sounds like a good fix to the problem or should I just replace the bearing?
or
What kind of washers do I need to order.
Thanks for your help
Keep those landys rollin

I wouldn't do it, if it is loose then pull id down, inspect and repack the wheel bearing and make sure nothing else id going on.
