Default DI brakes sound like an old banjo

Hi Y'all
I have a 94 DI and for the last few weeks I've had an intermittent issue with my breaks. When I apply pressure the pedal is stiffer than normal and there is a juddering feeling from the pedal (like ABS kicking in) and a twanging sound like someone plucking piano strings or an old banjo. This only happens intermittently and the braking does not appear to be affected in any way.
Any suggestions, things I need to look out for?
Thanks
G

What happens if you turn off your ABS?

On some of the eariler D1's I have heard of people pulling their fuse. You might want to try that and then try you brakes on your drive way or while driving around the block. If the brakes work better, you would have 2 options, run with out the ABS or most likely replace the ABS modulator.

I'll try to locate the fuse and will give it a go. I'll let you know howI get on.
Many thanks for the info.
