Disco 2 Spark issues..
Hello Folks
New guy here on the forums. I picked up a 2000 discovery 2 yesterday. It has no spark. Won't start. 140k
Things I checked: firewall switch, pulled a plug to check for zap, no spark. New plugs and wires.
Previous owner had run the machine, noticed sputtering and check engine light, arcing on the plug wires then in the rain, the machine died, never to run again.
he threw new wires on there and new plugs as well. Old plugs weren't bad at all.
I went back today ( 1.5 hour trip ) and pulled the crank position sensor and cleaned/dried it real good. No luck for me.
Is there a chance that I can just replace the ckps and be fine or will it be more than that? I can either rent a tow dolly and bring it back to go in depth or just replace the part and fix it there. Is there a way to test the CKps? Is this so common that I may as well replace it? Could the ECU be an issue?
Thanks for all your help in advance, running low on money after this and am on the wire for time!

Thanks folks. I did pick up a new crank sensor. Oddly enough, I searched around a bit, napa and the foriegn auto parts stores wanted 130.00 for it, autozone got me for 65.00 ( with nys tax) and gave me a two year unlimited warranty on the part. 2 years, if the part goes bad, bring it back for a replacement.
For the same bosch unit!
I'll be taking the 1.5 hour drive out there to put the sensor in today
