Exclamation Disco II - 2003 Fuel Filter

I am trying to verify what I suppose I am seeing in the RAVCD:

--To actually change the Fuel Filter on my 2003 Discovery I must do what??

a. It says it is NOT an inline filter.
b. Says I must drop the tank and change

--Can anyone verify if it is correct. Is the filter in the actual fuel tank or is there a more efficient method of changing this? Doing this tonight and tomorrow so I welcome quick responses.

I thank you ahead!

sorta true - it is part of the fuel pump assembly, but most just remove it from the access panel under the rear carpet. Do this when tank is not full to the brim. That usually does not take long with a Disco......

I did not know that it (replacement filter) was a part easily obtained. The in-line cartridge filter was used on D1, it was under the right rear wheel arch. Do you have the filter? What source / part #?

Default Part

I definitely had to hunt it down.

WIX Filter Brand - PArt#33481

-So when I remove the under carriage cover which allows the water depth to not affect tank, their is an underlying carpet piece that pulls back under the actual tank and their is an access hole as in your image to allow me to get access to the assembly?

?Do I need to remove the entire assembly or can I remove the outer filter which is seems to have and then the actual Fuel Filter to replace and then put the outer filter back on and reassemble?

Leave the sock alone, most people with D2's never change them, not like the D1 that should be done every 15,000 miles.

That WIX number is not what goes in the tank. It looks like a D1 style filter.

There is no serviceable fuel filter on a DII.
