Unhappy Dissapointing head gasket job

Well, I thought I was doing a good job on my first attempt at a HG replacement. I followed rave and some posts to the letter. I went to crank it up last night and it wouldn't turn over. Hoping it's something simple. Any suggestions where I should troubleshoot first before tearing it back down? Plenty of battery, makes a whine, just no combustion.

check your battery connections as well as the ground to the engine and frame.

sorry to here that, i know how disapointing that could be.
lets start with the basics
"wont turn over" it does not crank? or does it crank and just wont start?
"makes a whine" what is make it whine the engine or the starter?
"just no combustion" does it have compression?

Thanks, I was pretty crushed. It cranks just wont start. The whine I believe is the starter. I was alone so didn't get the opportunity to get near the engine while I tried to start it. Basically, the belt moves, the starter whines, but nothing else.

Hit the reset button for the inerita switch on the passenger fire wall near the heater hoses.

well if your belts are moving then it is cranking over.
Cranking fast, slow or normal?

So, if resetting the switch doesn't work, then check and make sure the crank sensor is not damaged

Well. Good news is that worked. Bad news is .... it started chugging like a freight train so I shut it down. Not sure what to do next. Going to get beer.
