Door locks won't open/lock with remote
Hello All,
Problem: Door lock won't lock/open with remote
vehicle: 2000 Land Rover Discovery II
Tried: Replaced Battery on Remote / Resetting security code (this was a bit confusing so it's possible I didn't do it right).
I have seen a few post about door locks that won't open/lock with the remote but I haven't found a solution for mine. The odd part about all this is; if I unplug my car battery and plug it back in my remote will unlock and lock the doors but only once.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Jay

Hi Jay
Some time ago I had a similar issue with the remote locking/unlocking. It would appear that the master lock which is located on the drivers door (the door with the key lock) progressively gives up and fails to function. Sometimes it can be the plug to the unit as it is in a damp atmosphere and is worth checking and spraying with electrical contact cleaner and silicon spray. Ironically, with mine the rear door actuator packed in within a day or two as well and both required replacement. Unfortunately I had these done by my favourite 'tame' garage in the UK and don't know how they code the new master lock unit to the remote.

lr4 drivers door lock,
I have a disco 4 and the drivers door would not lock with remote,
in the end it was the latch assembly faulty,
i changed it my self total cost £92.00 inc vat.
Quick way to do it ,, remove window , inner outer rubber seal, long screw driver to push window release clips so you can take window out easyly,
remove inner door card unplug all electrics, and steel cable,
use 10mm socket to remove electric window motor panel,
take out 3 c/s/star screws from lock, unplug elec plug door lock /latch.
Disconnect 1 steel wire clip from latch a bit fiddley but use long nose pliers through hole in door where latch worked through , job done, re assemble.
