DVD player won't play or eject

DVD player won't play or eject
Hi guys and gals.
I am new to Land Rovers. I just bought a 2002 Discovery 2 SE.
Everything works except the DVD player. I have followed the instructions carefully in the instruction manual but to no avail. The screen turns on and I can select AV1 and AV2 and set NTSC or PAL. Which I guess means that the screen is working correctly. But the problem I have seems to be with the DVD player under the seat. I can turn it on and it accepted a disc but it will not play and when I try to eject the disc it won't eject. I cannot even hear the disc starting to spin in the player.
Has anyone else had this problem? And is so are there any fixes?
