Default eas nightmare

Eas worked slow when I first got this p38. Local dealer said I need new air bags all 4. Had replaced. Rover now drops in rear overnight. They said it needed new valve block, replaced, same thing. Said need 4 new height sensors, replaced, same thing. Said I needed new cpu controller. Fixed for one week now Same thing. Any ideas? All I know for sure is the dealership don't know how to fix. Thanks,

Wesley

Unfortunately the only answer is a spray bottle and soapy water. Spray every connection with the soapy water and wait for the bubbles.

Is there any way to check the valve block assembly for leaks? I have checked the air connections on the outside of the eas box and the blue air cable inside the box but can I check the actual valves with soapy water? I'm a little dumb when it comes to mechanics. Also do you know why only the back falls. Thanks

The back on mine falls at night, but only when I have the (I guess this is it) manual button next to the EAS height indicator pushed on.

I'm sorry to hear you went to the dealer for this. They fix the EAS by throwing new (and expensive) parts at it. The air bags are available aftermarket for not too much money and the entire valve block can be rebuilt in about 1 1/2 hours with $30 worth of o-rings. I fully rebuilt the EAS on a P38 I had previously, including the compressor and temp sensor, for around $250. Here's some info on how the EAS system operates and how to diagnose problems: Air Suspension Faults, Diagnosis and Repair Here's info on rebuilding the system: EAS Valve Block Rebuild Guide | PaulP38A.com And here's where to get parts if needed: EAS PARTS. Is it just slow to lift? if so, then you have a bad seal in the compressor. A new seal is pretty cheap. Is it dropping on you overnight? If it is then since at this point you have just about everything replaced my guess is that there is a leak at one of the joints. The collets where the lines connect are prone to leaking. You can figure out where the connections are using the info in these links then spray soapy water on them to see if anything is leaking. If you are losing air in one area only then you can start by looking at the pieces that connect to that area. Another fun fact about the EAS is that it uses a timer to periodically check for discrepancies between sensors and tries to fix them so if there is a leak in one bag it may cause everything to be lowered. Pulling the timer under the seat will shut off that feature and you can see which corner drops to pinpoint the problem area.

Thanks so much for all the great links. I had already ordered the pump seal and will replace when I receive it. I expect a leak at the joints you mention because it pumps up within 5 min in the morning. Both rear leaks down overnight and does it faster the colder it is outside. I believe with the links you sent I will be able to leak check the joints you mention in the rear. Thanks again.

I "think" if you unplug the power feed to the compressor and solinoids at night I think you could rule a few things out. Or if inside leave the tailgate open, I believe that is a saftey to all the electronics in the system.just a idea

Default thanks for the advice

I left tailgate open and rear drops bit front has not dropped in 3 days now. So it seems the problem is rear. What would cause both rear to drop together? Seems that only the one leaking would drop unless both started leaking at same time. Could this indicate valve block problem instead? I have still not had time to check the rear lines and joints for leaks yet. I only checked the boots, connections at valve block and tank with soapy water so far. I need to locate the lines better before I freeze my butt off again.
