is there any way to leave the existing ecu computer hooked up after engine swap and still have everything working. and have a different ecu for the engine?

depends on the year but most likely not. if you fool the computer into making sure the security is good and making sure its gets a signal.

Didn't you research this before wasting your time and money? Or did you assume one engine is the same as all the others?

number one i did not assume anything nor waste my money. thats why i asked beacause i did not know. the 4bt doesnt need an ecu so i was just thinking that you could turn off the codes with a scanner for the landrover ecu
