Default Ecu plug and play?

What can I expect if I replace my ecu without the dealer reprogramming it? 1997 D1.

Your Disco won't start.
Why are you changing it and be specific?
If you replace both the ECU and the BCU from the same donor Disco, you won't need to reprogram but your odometer will then only show the mileage from the donor.

Mike's D2 would not start (BCU and ECU must be synced). On the older units, like my 97 (GEMS ecu), there is just the ECU. It may run rough for a few days wihile adaptive values re-compute. I had a bad IACV, and my original ECU would not re-learn it. I ended up getting an ECU and IACV from the boneyard and problem solved. I think I paid $30 for the ECU.

It's 50/50 (or maybe 20/80) if it will work or not on a D1. On a D2, it's pretty much no way. A D1 is still synced to the alarm box, so the proper way to do it is to put the ECU in security learn mode to see the green alarm module correctly. But lots of people have gotten lucky just swapping the ECU.
