Default ecu reset time.

My disco 2 has run 350 miles since ecu reset, and 2 monitors (cat & ev) are still flashing. the other monitor icons have all set solid. no pending codes showing. Has anyone with a disco 2 ever waited this long for a green light on their code reader? I need to get this toy smogged, and another re-set will just cost me more time, so Im throwing the question out what is a normal wait time?
thanks-bob1

it has much more to do with the way the car is driven then how far it is. evap monitor doesnt have to reset to pass the test, your catalyst does. start it cold, let it idle til warm, drive it twice to 35 at low throttle, stopping inbetween, twice to 45 at med throttle, and twice to 55 at hard throttle. then cruise at 45 for 10 minutes and then at 60 for ten minutes. come home, turn it off and let it cool, then check

Thanks, roverguyI've just finished 2weeks of code-breaking & wrenching, installing new head gasket,a couple o2 sensors, etc, and it's finally running like new again. That green light will look pretty sweet. bob1

Bob,
First, why only 2 02 sensors, when all 4 should be replaced.
Do you have a check engine light on, if so what are the codes.
What have you done to reset the ECU and why?

Default RE: ecu reset time.

mike,
There were various codes for bank 2 misfire prior to my replacing the head gaskets. Codes for bank 2 o2 sensor #1 due to wire damage from a slipped starter heat shield, And an ev code (major) from a bad gas cap. New gas cap installed. New head gaskets, and replacing the #1 sensor for both exhaust banks cleared all the codes and pending codes. You inquired about my method of clearing the codesI'm sure I misunderstood the questionJust the usual hand heldobd2.I know about the wisdom behind repacing all the o2 sensors at once, and would not advise anyone not do this. These were relatively lo-mile sensors, however, and I only replaced both #1's to maintain balance between the banks.
I'ma career mechanic with limited rover experience, and I must say that your knowledge of this particular vehicles quirks and the correct fix is a pleasure to see. I purchased a 2001 disco to use for fun, and it needed some tweeking to get it in shape. please keep up the good work.
