electrical problems
I just purchased my first Land Rover, its a 1997 discovery LSE. Got it for very cheap, but had a ton of miles and quite a few other problems. Most importantly the windows, sunroof (both front and rear) and seat adjustment units do not work. I would like to fix these problems myself to save some money but have no clue where to actually start... any suggestions? are these common problems in the 97 disco?

First thing you want to do is download the manuals, in particular you want the electrical manual which will show you the circuit diagrams and also shows the component locations.
They take a bit to get the hang of but have a ton of information there. Second, there is a procedure for the window module to make the windows work. the module is under the dash on the passenger side and they have problems with bad solder joints. Waiting for warmer weather to tackle my windows.
Take a look at this: http://www.landyworld.co.uk/discover...ctric-windows/

I have never soldered anything in my life. Bought a soldering iron, solder, and some flux.
Watched a youtube video and now I'm a soldering fool.
It's easy.
I don't see a connection to the sunroof problem. Check the 30 amp fuse under the dash fuse box, probably that. It's the one on the lower satellite fuse position, about the 4th or 5th over to the right.
Your seat switches need to be rebuilt. It's a PITA, but works. Each switch has 8 springs, 16 ball bearings, and 4 rocker contacts. When you open the switch the whole thing will fall apart.
If you don't think you can handle the rebuild, I rebuild and sell switches for $40.
If you need me to walk you through any of this, PM me with your phone number and a good time to call.
