Default External lights not working

Hi,
my disco 1 has non working tail lights and front lights as well. Fuses are fine. I am talking about those lights that you turn on by switching the light lever to the first position. The headlights work and so do the brake lights, I use fog lights at night in the rear to be seen. I checked the bulbs too. Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like your headlight switch has failed.

Disco Mike, sometimes the little red light on the rear bumper next to the signal light on the left comes on and sometimes it doesn't. The other one never does. So should I look at the switch lever?

If you have checked and cleaned all the sockets and connections, and have run a test probe to verify power to those lights, no power to me means a bad switch which is kind of normal for Disco's.

Thanks Mike, I haven't checked all sockets per say, I assumed one bad socket wouldn't mess up the entire circuit. I will check the switch though, thanks.

And the dash is lit up when the light switch is on in either position, would that mean the switch is fine? What a puzzle..
