Fix for broken radio buttons?
Ive been searching this forum but cant seem to find anything. 06 range rover sport. (i believe the buttons are the same for the LR3 as well) Rather then purchasing the entire Radio face with buttons like this one: Range Rover Sport Radio CD Fascia Panel replacement phone unit buttons genuine | eBay I just need the buttons #, 0, fast fwd, fwd, and back (by the eject button) Any ideas on a fix, (pin broke behind button) or where to grab them?
{Tried calling TransWest but they would only sale me the entire radio. But then realized the car had an interior fire}

Radio button fix
Hey guys new to this site, I have searched all the forums and could not find an answer to this as well. Today being stubborn I removed my radio and was determined to fix it. with the radio in hand I brought it inside the house and put it on the counter. here are the steps. total time 45 minutes
1. I removed the face plate with two posi drive screws, and unclipped the plastic retaining the face plate
2.pulling the face plate gently away from the unit I found two snap in ribbon cables. I left them on the face plate and removed the metal cover ontop of the radio and the face plate cables were easily unlocked from the connectors and removed.
3. I placed the face plate on a cloth and removed a few posi drive screws and the board came away.
4 I found the broken tiny piece of plastic that activates the eject button (and all buttons) and i then unclipped the eject button that was attached to the face plate
5. i then grabbed a disposable pen and took it apart. I cut off 3/8 of the ink tube inside the pen ( dry end obv.) and slid it over the broken part of the eject button fit tight and sturdy.
6. I then used a drill bit the size of the pen tube and reinserted the button.
7. Reassemble using previous steps and done.
you could never tell i used a drill bit because the button hides it and it took little material away from the face plate
my radio works like brand new and I couldnt be happier I hope this helps someone.
Sorry no pics Didnt know it was going to work

From my recollection the bit was needed to open up the hole so the pen tube could pass through smoothly and not bind. I found a bit fairly close in size to the pen tube.

Fix works great.... posted some pictures...
this fix worked fantastic! Only advice I have is to keep the broken button in the mounting plate when drilling from the back, just be careful to not drill too far. If you try to remove the buttons to drill, you might end up breaking the pivot point mountings of the buttons themselves as they are very delicate.
I've added some photos during the process. Once done, I had all the buttons working again. Just take your time and don't force anything, and don't over-tighten any screws while reassembling.
