fuel consumption - series IIIs w/chev 4.1
hello,
i have recently purchased a series IIIS land rover with a chev 4.1 conversion. i was told i should get about 8km/liter; is that realistic? i have kitted out the vehicle and am travelling through africa at the moment, but the fuel consumption is killing me. best case i get about 4.5km/liter; that's at 80-90km/hr on sealed roads at ~3200rpm.
i have a rochester monojet carb that i have recently overhauled and adjusted. the CO levels are pretty close to spec. i have adjusted the timing and the mechanical timing advance works.
is there anything else that i could check or do to improve the fuel consumption? a different carb perhaps?
any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
thanks,
dan
