Default Fuel Pump Fix

Alright, here's the shot. I have a 1999 Discovery SD that I need to replace the fuel pump on. I've found some on eBay for a reasonable price that I need to choose from. So a few questions:

1) is there certain specs I'm looking for?

2) where is the fuel pump located? is it in tank? can i just remove my rear seats and get to it from inside the truck. or lower the whole tank down?
I'm not a huge mechanic so maybe someone has the best idea as to do this whole process.

3)any help tips, ideas, as far as what i need to do for this job would be appreciated!

Is it a Disco 1 or 2? Disco 1 pump is $100 from Rovers NorthLAND ROVER PARTS - FUEL PUMP/SENDING UNIT RANGE ROVER & DISCOVERY
and D2 w/secondary air $345 LAND ROVER PARTS - FUEL PUMP/SENDER ASSEMBLY DISCOVERY II
and D2 w/out secondary air $380 LAND ROVER PARTS - PUMP - FUEL TANK UNIT DISCOVERY II

You access it from the cargo area under the carpet. Do a search and you will find many pictures of the install.

Does it say Discovery II on the back? What was the month of manufacture? I have no idea regarding secondary air because I have a DI

Do you know if it needs a fuel pump or are you guessing?

Many a time the crankshaft position sensor will cause the problem.

Might want to download that RAVE service manual, it shows tests, and how to do the job. You might not need a pump, could be a $15 fuel filter blocked up. You can rent or loaner a fuel test gauge from a parts store, it will screw right onto the valve on the fuel injector rail, should build up and show 32-36 PSI when key is turned to running position. Have rag ready for any fuel squirt spill.

Is your odometer digital or mechanical?
If it is mechanical then you have a DI.

Thats the wrong fuel pump for a '99 DI.
Late '97 model year the advanced evap loss system was introduced, this bumps the price of the fuel pump alittle.
