Default Gas Cap Thread Problem

Hey there community!

I am curious if anyone has had this problem before. I have 2004 Disco and the plastic threads on the gas cap are getting so snug that it takes about 20 turns to screw it down flush with the rubber gasket to seal off the tank.

I had Land Rover replace it and about a month later - same problem. Tried small amounts of aviation grease (which sort of helped), etc. Curious if anyone else has had this problem.

Thanks!

Yea I work at a dealer we replace gas caps all the time. I take a file and clean the treads then sand hand sand it. It works the light should go off by its self after six key cycles most of the time.
Good luck
