Default Gear box

Help please. Just bought a series 3 swb which ran perfectly for the first day but when I engaged 4 wheel drive and low range the car won't engage in any gear high or low range. When the clutch is released the gear box makes a whirring sound as if it's not properly engaged.

Have you checked the Main Gear Box and Transfer Box oil levels? I had a similar problem however just the whining noise when the clutch was not engaged…throw out bearing was slipping. There was very little oil in the Main Gear Box. Once filled up it worked fine.

Just a thought.

Sounds like your clutch release bearing is bad ....
