General maintenance expectations with Landrover
Hi, we bought a 2015 discovery sport at 33k in Aug 2020. A week after purchasing the service required light went on, which we took in and they did it free of charge, never said anything was wrong, or needed attention. 5k miles later, brake light came on, took in and had to completely replace back breaks, and looks like front needs replacing soon. Now, I’ve had plenty of cars before, and never have I had to replace the breaks so fast on a vehicle. Mind you, even the 5k we have put on, are highway miles. I have been asking for maintenance reports from the dealership and no one seems to want to give me any information as to what the breaks measured at in September or if there was a check on the car at delivery, when we purchased. The Landrover website reports only have very general info, “topped up oil, etc”. Even the service advisor gave me some crazy excuses about how the brakes are being used even without me knowing it, because of the technology in the car, and how the car is heavy. Which is ridiculous as I’ve had big SUV style cars in the past, so it was a bit insulting.
is there something wrong here? Am I over reacting? Is this just general practice for Landrover, prior to 2021, to not do the video reports? When I had the breaks done, they did give me a video report, but I didn’t have that back in September.
I am just trying to get a feel for how far I should fight this with them.
Thank you.
