Default hdc, abs, & traction control

Hi all,

has anyone encountered this little gem?

ABS, Hill decent control, and traction control warning lights all lit up (orange) all the time, but there seems to be nothing wrong with any of these functions, car is a 98 disco TD5 manual with 80k miles on it, till now has not missed a beat?

I was advised that this could be caused by oil travelling through the main wiring loom and into the engine control module and that the ONLY repair is to change both the ECU AND the main wiring loom, total repair cost in excess of £2500, seems steep!

any help gratefully received

thanks

Pete

Pete,
Close to half the people that post on here have had that problem, very common for Rovers.
Answer some questions,
are your brakes squeaking
how many miles on the truck
how often do you change the brake fluid
are your wheels covered with brake dust
what were you doing when your lights came on
were yor brakes hot when the lights came on
do you have after market brake pads and rotors?

thanks for reply Mike,

to answer:

brake Fluid changed at 72k, Pads and Discs are genuine landrover, at the time that the lights came on and stayed on, travelling at approx 30mph along straigtht road few bumps but nothing out of the ordinary for typical british side roads!

no great signs of brake dust on any of the wheels.

Car service at main dealer or specialist since new at every mileage or age interval as per spec, all recalls done at dealer etc.

Pete,
This is the most common problem that shows up on Rovers, especially Disco's
A problem you are going to have is, you can't just go to any shop to have the ABS codes read, needs to be done by the dealer or a shop with a AutoLogic scanner.
Most likely they will pull a wheel scensor code and want to sell you a new one. The majority of the time, the s4nsor is just dirty or it has been knocked loose causing too large of an air gap causing false fault codes.
I would suggest we talk before you take it in to be checked and I'll walk you thru how to not spend too much money.
PM me your tele. # and I'll call you.
Mike
