Unhappy Head gaskets repair 2003 disco

Guys, this is my first post, but all of you have helped me many times in the past with my truck. I am currently being told that I need to replace my head gaskets. I believe this as I do have some oil and coolant leaks. However, my disco is within the dreaded VIN# range of the problem discos. So, should I finally let my disco die? Is it a concern that my disco is within the range of bad vin#s given the new developments? I just learned of this bad vin issue recently and I have owned the truck for 4 years. In the last two years I have replaced the radiator, the thermostat, rotors, brakes, rear diff, and O2 sensors. I also had a shop do a new tune up with new plugs and wires about a year ago.

My info:

2003 Disco
93,000miles

No, the dreaded VIN range was that "some" units within that range had an alignment problem with the front cover that buggered up the oil pump, and these failed before 50,000; Rover replaced engines. Your's was one of the OK ones that is just subject to regular Disco problems.

Many oil leaks are caused by the valve cover gaskets, you should snug those four bolts up (8mm 12 point, skinny socket). Where is coolant leaking? How much in a week?

Savannah,
I am leaking about 1/3 quart of oil per month and about 8oz of coolant per week. The shop I take it to, Cowtown Rover in Fort Worth, TX showed me where the coolant was leaking on the passenger side head. He said it was a small leak and there is no coolant/oil mix at this point.

An indy shop will charge between 1700 - 2500 for HG. Dealer will be higher. DIY is $200 ish gaskets kit and new bolts, $250 ish to get heads skimmed and valve seals done; plus your labor. Lot of guys leak more oil than you, could be anything from valve covers to rear main seal to oil pan gasket.

I would not worry about the oil pump/engine issue, you are pretty much past that failure range.
How much is your shop quoting and what type of warranty?
All though you have replaced the t/stat, if it wasn't one of the new 180 degree replacements then replace yours again.
