Default Help!!

Hi, I purchased a 2006 Range Rover HSE about three months ago.. It's been running fine until the other day when I washed it. (Not sure if this has anything to do with the problem or not) Anyway, the "Land Rover" Logo is now stuck on the navigation screen. I've tried everything to get it to go off and back to the regular screen. The backup cameras, music, radio, navigation..nothing works. It just stays on that "Land Rover" logo. Now this morning I went to go start the car and the battery was COMPLETELY dead. I mean, it wouldn't even let me unlock it without manually putting the key into the door. After jump starting it, it worked. I immediately took it to one of the mechanics where I live. I just got it back and no luck.. my mechanic says he can't fix it because he doesn't have the right diagnostic equipment. He said he got this error message but doesn't know what it means, I'm hoping one of you do and can give me any advice before I take it the LR dealership that's four hours away from me..?

The message was U0248 - lost communication with the remote driver
Has anyone seen this before?

I suspect that somehow during washing water got under hood or into a connector somewhere. Now that standing water has caused corrosion or may just need to dry out. Mechanic may need to unplug things and look at pins on connectors for "green gunk". I would be cautious of a four hour roads trip with a vehicle that has the battery going dead quickly, you may have an electrical problem that would kill battery along the way. Mechanic can check charging voltage for that.

I had a problem with a knock sensor that got wet but it didn't last as long as yours. Land Rover Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Forum gives you fault code replies. I don't think just washing the LR was the problem as drinking water is not as bad as salt water and I drove in the Atlantic ocean water during a flood and then just hosed it down a few days later. The salt had already rusted some places but it's been 2 years and still running. The truck I had was not half as protected as a Land Rover. I would check the ground cable and the all the body (cab) ground straps. Then the positive cable's. If it only has one ground cable I would add another and make sure everything is tight and clean. You can test the cab ground by using one side of your jumper cable ... put the black clamp on the battery - Negative side then use the other side black clamp and touch metal bolts in the cab if you get a big spark your not on the - NEGATIVE side of the battery if you get a small spark or hear a little zap as you touch something that should be grounded you need to check or add a ground strap. Hope this helps.
