I took my 2003 discovery in for an oil leak and when I went to pick it up I received combined bills totaling over $16000. My rover isn't worth half of that on the market so I dont understand what the mechanic was thinking. Any one with experience fighting with an absurd bill such as this one or with any knowledge that may shed light on the situation at all i would very much appreciate their
input. I'm sick to my stomach and I don't even know where to start.
I'm posting copies of the bill with names redacted.
I’ve never had a shop do any work on one of my cars without an upfront estimate and authorization from me to complete the work. With that being said I would ask for a realistic bill or they would see me in court.

I agree that is the best and only way to go. I have had good repore with this mechanic before and he has always done the work on my truck both for the previous owner and myself.
Do you have any knowledge of where I should start if I'm heading to court? I really don't want to have to pay a lawyer as well. They cost more than the bill does.
Actually I'm getting off topic. My main concern since this js a vehicle forum was with the way the bill is written. It's all over the place and hard to follow considering I had only brought it in for an oil lea. Hoping someone with more knowledge of mechanic procedure and trouble shooting process can see what happened and how it became so absurd. Seems like i am being double and triple billed on certain things but I could be mistaken.
