Help...a LOT of water in crankcase!
98 Disco 1 with 120K miles..runs great, no issues that I know of. Checked the oil and it looked milky..drained the oil and it was REALLY milky. So, new oil and fire it up. After idling for a bit, check oil....milky. Drain new oil and there is a LOT of water in there...like a 2 or more quarts...
What in the world could be happening that would dump this much water into the crankcase? Surely a head gasket wouldn't flow that much volume, would it? How about front cover/waterpump/etc??
Thanks!

HG, lower intake manifold gasket, or front cover gasket. 2 quarts in a few minutes makes me think it might be the front cover.

The last 2 threads I have read talking about that much coolant seeping into the sump were both front cover. It's much easier getting into the front cover than it is removing the heads, and a LOT cheaper to rebuild: $20 gaskets, $10 oil seals, $100 oil pump gears and $100 timing set (new water pump too if it hasn't been replaced in 3+ years) That's what I would prep for and if it's NOT the source of your coolant leak then at least your front end is good for another 100K miles. I would think you would have at least 1 misfire and a rough idle at first start in the AM if a cylinder wall or liner was compromised; would have a whole piece of the water jacket barrier broken off to release that much coolant.
