Hot Starting Problems
97 Discovery I. I have difficulties starting up the engine after I drive the car enough to fully heat up the engine to a normal running temp. Most of the times the engine turns today it shut off completely, after I doused it with a bucket of cold water it started up and it ran without any problems until l I turned it off again . From what I read it could be the fuel temp. sensor. Please some one let me know. I already ordered the replacement part I hope I am right.
I just purchased a 92' Defender last week and yesterday the same thing happened to me, I drove it for about 3 hrs and got home, had a shower and was ready to go to dinner to find out it wouldn't start.. this morning I tried again and it started without a problem... I have only the bare electrics in my Defender, not even a radio, is the fuel temp sensor my problem too???
If the engine does not "crank" when its hot then its your starter. Look on ebay, I found a new one identical to what the auto parts stores sell for $79.00.
If it does crank but not start or idles rough when it starts it could very well be the fuel temp sensor.
Good luck with it.
