Default hot transmission

My automatic transmission gets pretty warm with lots of street/traffic driving. Dipstick and shift handle gets warm/hot in heavy traffic vs. easy driving. Will transmission/fluid temperature cool down or heat up if I drive 5 (traffic free) hours on freeway after driving in lots of street traffic?

Default hot transmission

I would think that one way or another there will be some heat there but the long driving on the highway should keep it cooler, there is more air flow going under the car at higway speeds
