there are 6 bolts that hold the r/f to the flange......3/4" hex size or 19mm.....remove all 6, force the driveshaft forward to slide the shaft off of the centering bearing....if your front u-joint is ok....there is really no need to remove the joint end of the shaft.
having said that....if the shaft wont slide forward>>>.maybe it hasnt been greased in forever....and you'll need to remove the u=joint end anyway
MAKE SURE YOU CHOCK THE WHEELS BEFORE STARTING THIS OPERATION,I happen to know "a guy" who didnt do this a few years ago and the truck rolled over his foot...
I've put a lot of pressure on it trying to get the driveshaft to compress, but it just won't move at all. Do I just take the U joint apart like any other? Remove the clips, pound it out, etc.
It still needs to slide off the bolts that are sticking out of the parking brake drum. Without it compressing, how can it come off? This is the most play it has, and that's just from the u-joint moving.

there are four bolts that hold the u-joint flange to the parking brake drum...remove THEM and then u should be able to pull the whole shaft assy out and operate on it
mark the shaft halves if you attempt to pull them apart...they are splined and should only fit back together well , one way
if you replace the u-joint with a chinese one from any of the cheap parts places the Rover Gods will get you !
