excuse my ignorance, I am still trying to wrap my brain around the immobilizer circuit.. The immobilizer shuts down the starter and the fuel pump??
I have no spyder and when I lock the doors with the key, the lights flash 3 times (no fob) I have already had my share of electrical gremlins and this sounds like something I want to eliminate. I have seen the green box, and I noticed a black/white wire hanging that is not connected on one end. Antenna maybe??

I noticed the ring around my key is always red, truck starts fine, no noises. should I be concerned? I have no idea what may have been done so far to this truck as I have owned it for about a month.

Same here, jimvw57. I just got my '96 Discovery, have had a no-cranking episode, and have a few toggle-swithches that have been installed that I need to figure out, lol! I need to figure out what the 'spyder' is, also.

Sounds like some one has already removed the emob. part of the loop. The security system can not be fully removed from these rovers as of right now. But yes the alarm system does control the fuel and all starting procedures on the disco's. I'm in the process of removing the alarm completely from one of my disco 1's right now we are 3/4 of the way and it is still running. When we are complete I will post pics and procedure on how to remove your self. I will tell you that you will have to go to fry's or radio shack for parts.

God help you if your super locked and can't get the door open. (There's always that special tool for that it's called a brick.)

If you have an 1994-early 96 you should have a spyder it is a box behind the radio and if it goes out the disco will not start and have other issues rovers north sales the bypass for it. The other security box for nonspyder disco's is located in the pass. side foot well behind the kick plate it is the green box of doom.

Yup, that's what I have, the "green box of doom"! I've got the two wires crossed that go the the starter solenoid. Now, I have to figure out the wires to the fuel pump and coil.
