Cant find the door plunger for the the dome lights in a 2002 discovery series 2. the lights dont turn on when the doors are opened. thinking there is just gunk around it.

 

The RAVE electrical and circuit manuals are your friend. The alarm switch is part of the door lock package. It signals the BCM (Body Control Module) which handles timing the interior lights. Lots of connections to check, and fuses.

 

Mine were not working and it turned out to be very corroded headers in the passenger footwell. Here is more info:
