Intermittent Screeching at 2500 Rpm
Hi. Wondered if anyone can help. I have just bought a 2004 Discovery Series II. Its great apart from a high pitched screeching noise which comes in at around 2500 rpm in 1st/2nd/3rd gear and then disappears. Its an auto gearbox. The noise is more audible under load. (Box changes smoothly through all gears).
Hi Mike
I'm a blonde (need I say any more?) I checked that it has diesel in, and the rear view mirror is in the right position for applying lipstick
!
It has 70,000 miles and appears to have the full service history.
If I drive like a granny keeping the revs low it doesnt happen. Also it stops once its changed up to top gear. I'm not sure whether I should drive it at all or just get it straight into the garage. If its likely to be just a gearbox oil top up I can get one of my sons to do that for me.
Many thanks
